Dr. Miika Kajanus

As an RDI-liaison in Savonia University of Applied Sciences Dr. Miika Kajanus coordinates sustainability related research and innovation projects. The EIT Climate-KIC project “Innovation Laboratories for Climate Actions – ILCA” brings together six higher education institution (HEIs) and three research institutes from five different countries under the theme of climate change. The project strengthens human capital in climate innovation and entrepreneurship for systemic problem solving. Finnish Catch the Carbon R&I programme's project HiiliVie improves the know-how of actors in the land use sector about climate-wise and comprehensive sustainable solutions.

His role is related to Resilient society combining the Food, Water, Energy, Wellbeing, Bio- and circular economy solutions. Systemic approach necessitates consideration of interdependencies among actions (i.e. interactions). For example, climate roadmap can be a way to better understand synergies and trade-offs when putting the actions in practice.

The main tasks are to organize research and innovation processes with enterprises and other organizations. Work is collaboration mainly with scientists, SMEs, inventors, end-users and experts aiming in a straightforward way to implement innovations. Miika Kajanus has worked as a Finnish representative in ISO/TC 279/Working Group 3 Innovation tools and methods since 2014. He consulted private companies as a head consultant in Business Analysis and Commercialization of Innovations by The Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres) in Finland for 2014-2017. He have more than twenty international research publications and I am one of the creators of the innovation tools InTo https://into.savonia.fi/ and Prospective Rapid Impact Assessment PRIA.
