WHY PHILOLOGY?

The profession of a translator is very important, because it has been in demand since ancient times, since the emerging of the language, and of course, communication between people is an integral part of our daily lives. We all know that modern world is evolving and new technologies such as electronic translators are not so developed to replace professionals, as being able to order coffee or write a short letter isn't enough. It is required to have a large vocabulary and knowledge of relevant grammar in order to translate official correspondence, important agreements and contracts, medical records or an interesting fiction book. You should also be able to analyze the relationships between the words which you want to use and then think how to make a correct text understandable for the reader. Interpreting is a field of translation that requires creativity, the ability to figure out how to work with other people, a good memory and quick reaction because a interpretor is a person who is a mediator between different cultures. No wonder that in 2019, according to the Ministry of Education and Science, the specialty "Philology" became the most popular among applicants in Ukraine.
