Project summary:
The DICOMI project, co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus programme, brings together six partner organisations from across Europe to empower migrant children, especially vulnerable ones, to foster social cohesion and respect for migrants displaced by the war in Ukraine and Syria through digital comics education.
The project "Digital comics of migration" is about researching family stories of migrants and creating digital comics based on them, which are intended for middle-aged children for educational purposes. The project team will create educational digital comics based on the real-life experiences of displaced families caused by the war in Ukraine.
Over the past decade, the world has witnessed two significant migration flows due to the wars in Ukraine and Syria, affecting thousands of children and their education. European countries have developed new policies, launched campaigns and calls for projects for those students affected by displacement.
The project will use comics as a tool to engage students and improve their social cohesion. The comics will be age-appropriate and based on the experiences, opinions, and stories of families who have fled their countries due to the wars in Syria and Ukraine. In this way, the voices of people at war will be heard and seen, creating an atmosphere of compassion and respect.
At this stage of the comic book creation, we are going to conduct a series of in-depth interviews with emigrants who have experienced displacement due to wars in different countries, including Ukraine.
The aim of this project is to document and tell the stories of people who were forced to leave their home countries because of the war. These interviews will be very personal and emotional, and they will help us to better understand the importance of supporting emigrants and their unique perspective.
